Kadayif

Author: Cooking Class // Category: ,

Ingredients:

2 sticks of butter

1 pack of kataif dough

2 cups of shredded walnuts

Syrup:

3 cups of confectioner’s sugar

3 cups of water

Few drops of lemon juice

Process:

  1. Defrost the dough in room temperature for couple of hours.
  2. Melt the butter on the stovetop. As soon as it is liquid, take it off the stove before it gets brown.
  3. Shred the dough with melted butter. Put everything in a bowl and work it so that it is nicely coated with butter.
  4. Divide the dough into two. Place one half onto standard cookie sheet. Spread the walnuts in the middle, and spread the other half on top.
  5. Put it in preheated oven (375 F degrees)
  6. Mix sugar and water in a pan and boil it. After it boils, put the lemon juice and let it boil for about five minutes.
  7. Keep the kadayif in oven until it is golden brown. Take it out.
  8. While both the kadayif and the syrup are hot, spread the syrup nicely on kadayif.
  9. If you have to use a glass pyrex cup, wait until kadayif (xor syrup) gets cooled down.
  10. Serve it preferably with whipped cream after it is cooled down.
  11. Afiyet olsun…(Bon appetite)
